The Dispatcher
Authors note: This piece is a prediction on what I think will happen in The Dispatcher, and by doing that I will finish the story by the information that was given on the back of the book.
Do you ever wonder what it’s like to get someone you love kidnapped? Well Texas police dispatcher Ian Hunt’s does and he will do anything to get his daughter back, after he gets a couple calls from his daughter then gets sent out on a wild goose chase.
One cold rainy night Officer Ian Hunt’s is sitting at his desk when suddenly he gets a call. Who could it be? No one else is at the station but officer Ian. He answers the phone “Officer Ian what’s your emergency?” Ian asked. A little girl cries father, father. Ian Hunt’s hasn’t talk to his daughter in seven years. Seven years ago his daughter was a 4-year old child. It was kind of hard for Ian to tell if that was his daughter or not. She tried to tell him where she was but the man who kidnapped her cut the phone off.
Later that day officer Ian tracked where the call came from, the call from his daughter that is. She called from a telephone booth right outside of town on the highway. There is a diner across the street from the telephone booth. Ian went to that diner to find out if anyone noticed a young girl making a call at the telephone booth. No one noticed. Officer Ian decides to go back to the station when he gets there the phone rings he answers the phone and immediately he heard his daughters voice. A man gets on the phone and tells Officer Ian that in order to get his daughter back he has to meet him at the telephone booth where the first call was made with one-thousand dollars in two hours. An hour later Officer Ian shows up to the telephone booth but without the money. A man pulls up to the telephone booth with a little girl with him. Immediately Officer Ian noticed the girl and tries to get her to run away. He screams for her to run. The man that kidnapped the little girl grabbed her and put her back in the car and drove off very fast.
After the man drove off with Officer Ian’s daughter, Ian ran to his car and chases the kidnapper. Based on the information given from the book the kidnapper took Ian on a wild goose chase all over town. I believe that Ian chased the kidnapper for at least five to ten-hours that day. The kidnapper crashes into two other cars. Officer Ian finally catches up with the kidnapper. But his daughter is injured. She is bleeding badly but officer Ian can’t figure out where the bleeding is coming from. They are far from a hospital and Ian has no way to contact a hospital. Ian’s daughter is now dead the kidnapper is also dead.
Officer Ian Hunt’s got his daughter back but not the way he wanted her back.
