Katsa's Point of View

Katsa’s Viewpoint

Authors note: This is an essay about the point of view of Katsa from the book Graceling, explaining the event where Katsa had to kill a king.

In the book Graceling, many huge events occur. But the event I found the most interesting and most important is the event where Katsa was forced to kill a king. This book is written in Katsa’s point of view. From her perspective a lot of events and characters are described in a way of very emotional, painful, sad, happy, exciting and adventurist.

First, one way that Katsa’s point of view influences the reader’s interpretation is how her point of view of the sorrow she felt as she was forced to kill the king. It all happened so fast, Katsa came home one day. Her uncle who is King Randa called her to him. He sent her to go kill another king. She didn’t want to do it, but she had no choice she was ordered too. How do you think she felt when she had to kill the King? How would you feel if you were forced to kill another person?

Secondly, this influences me because it tells me that in some places people are forced to do things they don’t want to do. The details in this story are very well explained especially this scene. A reason why I think this scene is more detailed than any other scene is because in this scene she states that she tries to put on a normal face so that no one would noticed that she doesn’t want to be doing this. I think that the reader would feel that this is a very good book. I also think that the reader’s feelings about Katsa would be that she is a very nice and caring person. I also think that the reader would think she doesn’t like the job she has as being King Randa’s hit man.

Finally, if this book Graceling, was written in the point of view of King Randa, I think the reader would feel different about the book. The reason I think the reader would feel different about this book is because I think the book would show more selfishness also the book wouldn’t have as much detailed scenes and no emotion.

In conclusion, this event relates to slavery. This relates to slavery because people had to do what their leader told them to do, weather they wanted to do it or not; weather it was good or bad they had no choice like Katsa she had no choice.
